It once belonged to a brewery with the same name which had its buildings in Hauptstraße 110, where we now find the restaurant 'zum Schwane'. From the early 18th century on the best and most popular beer of Erlangen had been brewed and poured there. In 1923 the brewery was shut down. The buildings were taken over by the Brauhaus Nürnberg AG which started to set up a branch in Erlangen. In 1966 this brewery merged with the brewery of the Baron von Tucher.
