The Altstädter Schießhaus
(Altstädter
marksmen's clubhouse)
In former times it was
the domicile of the Königlich privilegierte
Hauptschützen Gesellschaft (kingly privileged marksmen's
association) and the birthplace of Erlangen's
Bergkirchweih (1755). The Schießhaus, which was
originally built in 1729, was broken down in 1965 and
rebuilt in the architectural style of the 'happy
Sixties'.
An unusual fact that has to be mentioned here is the
annual change in which beer is being served. It used to
be one year Kitzmann and the other Patrizer (today mostly
Lederer, Tucher, etc.). This year it is Kitzmann's turn
again. |
