The Niclas Keller
Dating back
to the late 17th century the cellar belonged to the
brewery Carl Niclas which was located at
Hauptstraße 103. Today this is the address of the pub
'Papa Joe's'. In 1706 a great fire started out exactly
there and then ruined most of the old houses of
Erlangen's oldest part of the town. In order to make new
capital, the enterprise was turned into 'Erlangen's First
Joint-Stock Brewery'. In 1919 the brewery Henninger
Reifbräu received the brewery's contingent.Today this cellar is one of the
most popular places of Erlangen's Bergkirchweih,ultimately
because of the performances of the cult band 'Moskitos'.
